Privacy
In short: your music, your playlists and what you like stay on your phone. There's no account and no tracking, and Alchemist Music only goes online when you ask it to.
What stays on your phone
Your songs and their files, how each song sounds (its tempo, key and energy), the parts it's split into, your playlists and tags, play and skip counts, thumbs up and down, the Alchemist's Ingredients, your event sets and recordings, and every setting. Alchemist Music never uploads your music and never changes, renames or deletes your files unless you ask it to (for example, moving a song into your Music folder).
When it goes online, and what it sends
- Downloading the stem splitter or a brain (AI models), when you choose to: it fetches the file. Nothing about you is sent.
- Looking songs up online, if you turn it on: the title and artist of songs whose files don't say their year or genre go to MusicBrainz, on Wi-Fi only.
- Suggesting new songs, if you turn it on: the names of artists you play go to MusicBrainz, ListenBrainz and Apple's music search, to find similar artists and their songs.
- A cloud brain, if you give the app a key for one: what the Alchemist asks it (the songs it's choosing between and why) goes to the service you chose, under that service's terms.
- Getting songs you share to it: the link you share is used to fetch those songs.
- Buying Full, when it's available: payment is handled by Stripe. We receive your email address to send your key, and nothing else about your card.

No analytics, no cookies, no third-party scripts. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which keeps the usual server logs.
The web player
The player on the home page runs entirely in your browser. Songs you add to it are read, measured and played on your device, and never uploaded. The page doesn't keep them, or the samples cut from them: close it and they're gone. The demo songs are made by the page itself.
